What is WAHAM?WAHAM stands for Wisconsin Association of Healthcare Access Management. It is comprised of professional individuals from throughout the State of Wisconsin who are in the Access field. What is Access?Historically, this has been called Admitting, Registration or Patient Access. It has grown to encompass not only the registration process, but in many facilities it also includes Central Scheduling. It is the area that typically has the initial contact with the patient, either through the appointment schedule or registration into the facility. The managers in Access often times cover many other areas ranging from Reception Desk, Switchboard, Telecommunications, Central Scheduling, Pre-Certification, Registration and Pre-Registration. WAHAM consists of its members and a governing Board. The Board is comprised of 9 members: President, Vice President, Past President, Treasurer, Secretary, Public Relations, Education, Membership and Member-At-Large. WAHAM hosts 4 educational sessions per year throughout the State of Wisconsin. At each of these, topics relating to Access, Management, HIPAA, MSP, etc. are covered. Annually, one of these sessions is a joint session with WMCA (Wisconsin Medical Credit Association). Members of WAHAM would also receive a quarterly newsletter. This consists of articles on topics that are related to Management or Access. | ||
